Saudi Arabia announces Eid Al Fitr 2026 holiday
Public holiday begins Wednesday, March 18 for all employees
DUBAI – Saudi Arabia has confirmed the Eid Al Fitr 2026 public holiday for employees in both government and private sectors.
The announcement marks a key moment for residents and workers preparing for celebrations at the end of Ramadan.
The official holiday will commence on Wednesday, March 18, corresponding to 29th of Ramadan, 1447 AH.
Eid Al Fitr holiday
The Eid break will span four days for all employees, with normal work set to resume on Sunday, March 22. Authorities clarified that the exact dates of Eid Al Fitr will depend on the sighting of the Ramadan crescent, in line with long-standing Islamic tradition.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development emphasised that both private and government sector staff are entitled to the full duration of the holiday, ensuring families have time for festivities and religious observances.
For private sector employees, the holiday arrangements mirror those of the government, with all staff observing a four-day break unless the Ramadan month extends to 30 days. In that case, the holiday will continue until Sunday, March 22. Businesses and organisations are advised to adjust operational schedules accordingly.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates has also announced its Eid Al Fitr 2026 public holiday. Federal government offices will close from Thursday, March 19, until Sunday, March 22, with normal operations resuming on Monday, March 23.
Private sector employees will observe a break from March 19 to 21, with a possible extension to March 22 depending on the official moon sighting.
Residents in both countries are encouraged to plan celebrations, travel, and family gatherings according to the official schedules.
